Student Work - 3D Explosion
I have some photographs of student work from workshops here. If you would like to have your photo included, please email me a photo of your quilt, your name (it can be just your first name if you are shy), and the name of your quilt. And if you see your work and you would like you name on it, please let me know and I will add it. I hope to have this area grow so that new students can be inspired by other student’s work!

In her words, "When I finished moaning & groaning & finished it completely, I entered it in our local guild's quilt show in June. And guess what, I won first prize in wall hangings!!! I had a friend quilt it for me & I designed more scrolls & ribbons for the background and used variegated thread." |
3-D Explosion by Susie M. Susie works fast! She finished her top in the 3-D workshop at Quilt Camp in the Pines, 2007 (Less than two weeks ago!) Hubba hubba! |

3-D Explosion by Tina G Tina was not actually in one of my workshops, but she made her wall hanging from the pattern in the book by herself. It's the Colossal Scrolls pattern from the front of the book. Well done! |
3-D Explosion by Laurie M. Laurie used black Swarvorksy crystals in the center. She says they reflect the light very nicely, but they are hard to see in the picture. She also said that it was a lot of fun to make and she would like to make another one. |
Madam Butterfly by Carol H. Carol attended a 3-D Explosion workshop in Texas. Her butterfly is quilted with double needle, with a shimmery thread in one side. Hubba hubba! |

Spinning Star Scrolls: The Summer side of Bidwell's quilt This scroll is on the other side of the quilt and it is 50% smaller. |
Spinning Star Scrolls by Bidwell C. Drake Bid worked straight from the book. She says, "I machine appliquéd and machine quilted the scrolls on lightweight Pellon because I knew I wanted to make it reversible, and did not want the quilting to show on the other side. For the Summer side I shrank the pattern by 50%. Deliberately offset the scrolls on that side because of the weight if they were back-to-back with the larger scrolls. Quilted the entire background by hand with red thread, then machine appliquéd the scrolls." |
|
Dancing Colors by Janet Yokoe Janet bought the book and made the quilt design from the front of the book on her own. The quilt placed 5th or Honorable Mention in the local Hawaii Quilt Guild Show in May of 2006. It was judged (voted) by the viewers. |
